Ge_Facility_Backzone, also known as Facility Backzone, was not an official multiplayer map in Goldeneye 007. It was part of the single player Facility level. Thanks to Gameshark codes this map could be played complete with weapons, ammo, and multiple spawn points. In Goldeneye: Source Facility Backzone was heavily influenced by both the game and the movie and several entirely new areas were added by the map makers to help with flow and balance.

Jeo, Fourtecks, and many more have contributed to this map.

GoldenEye 64

In the original game Facility was the second mission in the story. After bungee jumping off the Byelomorye Dam, Bond infiltrates the chemical weapons facility via the ventilation ducts above the bathrooms. He must make his way through the facility to the bottling room at the far end where his main objective is to rendezvous with 006 and destroy the bottling tanks.

Objectives:

  • Gain entry to laboratory area
  • Contact double agent
  • Rendezvous with 006
  • Destroy all tanks in bottling room
  • Minimize scientist casualties

Film

In the film this part of Facility is where the chemical weapons are processed and bottled. After gaining access to the laboratory area through a floor grate, 007 and 006 make their way over to the bottling room door. 006 kills a scientist in the nearby lab whilst 007 uses the door decoder to unlock the security door. Once they are inside, 006 sets off an alarm when using the decoder to lock the door behind them. Bond plants explosives on the chemical bottling tanks, but they are quickly surrounded by russian soldiers under the command of Colonel Ourumov and 006 is captured, then executed by Ourumov. Bond then escapes by taking cover behind a trolley of chemical weapon cannisters and maneuvering it over to a conveyorbelt which he activates and rides out of the facility.

Trivia

  • The red armor room has been given elevator music so it can be equal with it's Frontzone counterpart. Due to popular demand and love of the track, the music has kept its place in the room even though it's not an elevator.
  • The vent in the floor in the lab section is is referencing a similar vent that 007 used to gain access to the Backzone of the Facility.
