This article covers entities that are used in Goldeneye: Source gameplay and what they are used for.
Placement: Deathmatch spawns should be evenly distributed across the map, should not be too close to eachother or too remote. Avoid placing spawn points in exposed areas and in the middle of rooms or corridors.
Placement: Teams should be placed on opposing ends of a map, you may need to take into consideration weapon and armor placement in order to keep gameplay balanced, one team spawning near armor or a powerful weapon will give a huge advantage over the other team. Also remember that after each round teams will swap spawn points.
Placement: Spectator spawns should be placed in main areas of the map overlooking the area. They should not be placed at ground level.
Whilst spectator spawns are not essential, it is recommended you place at least one in your map to avoid spectators starting with their view inside freshly spawned player models, as spectators will instead start at an info_player_deathmatch.
Placement: Weapons should be placed in intuitive locations where they are easily visible such as in the middle of rooms or corridors.
Placement: One or two ammo spawners should be placed near their corresponding weapon.
Placement: Tokens are best placed in accessible areas such as in the center of rooms or at corridor junctions, they should tend to be closer to the center of a map as capture points spawn on the outer perimiter of the map.
Placement: MI6 tokens should be placed near MI6 team spawns, in Capture The Key the Janus objective will spawn here. Team token spawns will swap along with team spawns when the round ends.
Placement: Janus tokens should be placed near Janus team spawns, in Capture The Key the MI6 objective will spawn here. Team token spawns will swap along with team spawns when the round ends.
Remember, you must always take into consideration that there could potentially be up to 16 players playing on a map. As a rule of thumb you should place enough entities for at least 16 players. This means placing at least 16 deathmatch spawns, 8 of each team spawn, 8 token spawns, and at least 1 of each team token spawn.
If there are more players than there are spawn points then players will have to wait for those spawn points to be vacated before they can spawn.
